On an expansive hilltop, wrapped and accentuated in natural cedar cladding, given a sense of structure and identity with the dark iron cloak that wraps over the four main volumes, and strength from the bricks that pierce through the building, this home blends into the natural backdrop of the native tree covered hills, whilst allowing its owners to enjoy the expansive views towards the sea or the sun filled native forest behind.

Architecturally designed to allow the outside in, with its large windows in the main volume to give a sense of height and drama to the space, capturing the expansive views and open areas around the building, designed to allow the natural native surroundings to flow through this home keeping it cool in summer. Warmth in winter is captured by specifically designed openings to let the heat in with natural insulation and highly specified glass to hold the heat from the day.

Designed as a collection of volumes off a main circulation spine, that starts from the moment you arrive, and leads you through the building with a honed brick spine wall, that pierces through the building. The volumes and spaces are cleverly designed and arranged off this central spine to not only give identity to this building, but separate the public and private parts of the building that are able to be shut off and give each of them privacy. Each of the volumes provide their own private outdoor area, joining in the middle around fireplaces to congregate and come together for a well-deserved rest. This property is all about the detail which Richard Kepka Builders are renowned for achieving for the Architect and owners.

The master volume, while tucked away off the private lounge, the Master bedroom is a quite retreat with views of the Pacific Ocean, capturing the lovely morning sun to draw your attention and private cedar spa. The large open plan living in the main volume connects you to the outdoor entertainment areas out both sides of the property, with a cedar ceiling running from the indoors out, subtly connecting the senses to the outdoors, with a scullery off the main kitchen and office tucked away. While at the adjacent end, the guest volume hosts a guest rooms with ensuite and two large bedrooms sharing a larger bathroom, each opening onto a small private decked area which is cleverly lit at night. The design is finished with a separate garage and laundry a level up.
