The beautiful use on natural timber creates a warmth that is not only welcoming but enhances the angles and use of other materials used to design the new Cellar Door at Linden Estate.  A perfect combination where to enjoy the sampling of beautiful Hawkes Bay grown wines.



Challenge

The challenge of this building was the use of Natural Timber, as it is natural and a cellular product it moves with changes in climatic conditions. The timber shrinks and swells but built with this in mind and the correct selection of product chosen this building will stand the climatic conditions for years to come.



Value

And with a challenge comes advantages, that being its is a natural source and timber is a non-toxic material and maximises green star energy ratings. Also due to its lightness, density and grain structure, and the fact we have been using timber in buildings from the early ages we have highly developed machinery to cut, drill and prepare timber to the required size and shape to continue to use a sustainable product.
